Bhitarakanika Cruise
November 20, 2022
Bhitarakanika in Kendrapara district is famous for its national park with mangrove forests. The national park and wildlife sanctuary is inundated by the rivers like Baitarani, Brahmani, Dhamra & Pathsala. It hosts many mangrove species, and is the second largest mangrove ecosystem in India & it’s quite adventurous cruising in the serpentine river ways surrounded by mangrove forests on both sides.
Bhitarakanika is popular for its salt water crocodile with one holding Guinness record (23ft in size) & the albino Gouri crocodile, migratory & resident birds, olive ridley turtles, 8 varieties of kingfishers, mangrove pitta, water monitor lizard, wild boar, fishing cat, spotted deer etc. The tranquil surrounding & unique bio-diversity attracts visitors, photographers & researchers from near & far.
