SUMMARY:Ganjam Calling: Rambha Tour
DESCRIPTION:Rambha Heritage Town – Like the mysterious name\, the place also tests the curiosity of a traveller with its unspoiled beauty and unique ecosystem. It is situated beside the southern end of Chilika Lake under Ganjam dist. The scenic beauty of Chilika Lake is seen from here. Visitors can enjoy a ride on the boats or a cruise on Chilika Lake. It offers views of the surrounding islands\, bird sanctuary\, and the unique ecosystem of the lake. Once upon a time\, Rambha was under Khallikote Mardaraj royal family with their summer palace bought from the Britisher\, now converted into a heritage stay hotel.  The palace was constructed in 1792 by European engineers under the supervision of Thomas Snodgrass\, the then Collector of Ganjam. \nBreakfast Island – The bright yellow coloured structure in the middle of the lake approximately 45 min boat ride from Rambha boat jetty. It was built as a lighthouse by Mr Snodgrass\, the then Collector of Ganjam District of the East India Company\, used by Britishers to eat their breakfast and drink tea. Since then\, it is known as Breakfast Island. There are a hut shaped structure and a conical pillar alongside surrounded by water. \nPotagarh – Literally meaning buried fort is a historical fort near Ganjam Town made by British in 1768 AD.  The cluster area alongwith the fort is in ruin stage and located in Ganjam district which says the glorious past of Ganjam. Potagarh of Ganjam is the first and oldest collectorate of Ganjam\, Orissa\, constructed by Edward Costford.  Due to its strategic military location near the sea mouth\, Potagarh site was used by French\, Dutch & of course Britishers. The beauty of this place situated near the river gives this place a very calm and enjoyable experience. \nBateswar Mahadeb Temple\, around 8km from Huma Town at Kantiagada is a heritage 8th century temple once buried in sands\, now restored. Bali Lokanath (ବାଲିଲୋକନାଥ) Temple at Mali-Jagannathpur Village near Ganjam town is a temple of 13-14th century Kalingan architecture built by Eastern Ganga Dynasty dedicated to Lord Shiba. Prefix Bali (meaning sand) added to Lokanath Temple since it was also buried under sands for centuries & excavated later on & restored. \nTour Date: 9th Feb 2025 (Sundy) \nPickup/Drop Down Point: Ravi Talkies Sq & Khandagiri Square\, Bhubaneswar \nReport By: 06.00 AM \nDuration: 12 hours (06.00 AM – 06.00 PM) \nDistance to be covered: Around 140 km on road & 45 min boat ride on Chilika \nCharges per head: For charges\, please get in touch with us via whatsapp # 09861288166 & mail at infoaitiha@gmail.com .
