SUMMARY:False Point Tour
DESCRIPTION:False Point\, as the name suggests\, derives its name from the circumstance that vessels proceeding up the Bay of Bengal frequently mistook it for Point Palmyras in West Bengal. It’s the first & oldest surviving light house in Eastern India. Located in the Batighara (named as per the landmark in the area) village\, False Point Light House\, built by the British East India Company in 1838\, has been showing direction to ships for the last 185 years. \nThe iconic light house has witnessed the Na’anka Durbhikhya (Great Famine of Orissa) of 1866 & has weathered countless storms including 1999 Super Cyclone which had devasted the area\, its people & cattle. The light house is 39 metres in height & has 133 steps with beacon light now replaced by a metal halide lamp. Since\, it comes under essential services\, the light house is always manned by staff to run the lights\, carry out maintenance & maintain logbooks on daily basis. There is a hospital for British staff in abandoned state in the complex & one cemetery next to it where the British personnel & their family members were cremated who died during that period. Now this light house has turned into a tourism point for those who love history\, heritage & wants to kindle the glorious maritime trade. \nA rustic trip to False Point with its red & white structure is always a visual treat for the heritage lovers\, tourists\, nature seekers\, wildlife lovers alike. We shall touch British warehouse at Hukitola Island via local boat & view the flora & fauna if weather & tidal movement permits. \nTour Date: 22nd Feb 2026 (Sunday)\nPickup/Drop Down Point: Ravi Talkies/Rasulgarh Sq (Bbsr) & Link Road (Ctc)\nReport By: 05.00 AM\nDuration: 14+ hours (05.00 AM – 07.00 PM)\nDistance to be covered: Around 120kms on road & 20kms on water & back \nFalse Point Tour\nFalse Point Tour\nFalse Point Tour\nFalse Point Tour\nFalse Point Tour\nFalse Point Tour\nFalse Point Tour\nImages Courtesy: Dr Ashish Pattnaik\, Sajal Sheth\, Ritu Pattanaik\, Taranisen Pattnaik  \nCharges per head: For charges\, please get in touch with us via whatsapp # 09861288166 & mail at infoaitiha@gmail.com .
