DESCRIPTION:Ghatagaon in Kendujhar district is in the midst of a wild forest. Tourists and pilgrims from all over worship Maa Tarini in this forest. The makeshift shrine has now been converted into a temple complex with amenities for pilgrims. Tuesdays & Saturdays are observed as the weekly auspicious days for having Maa’s darshan. The puja is done by Dehuri\, a tribal group that follows the rites and rituals of the Puja. People believe that Maa Tarini is fond of coconuts\, hence pilgrims offer it to her at the Peetha. Its said that if someone is unable to have darshan of Maa ay the peetha & offers coconut as prasad for Maa to vehicles (public bus\, truck etc) passing through Kendujhar\, he carries it & deposits at the counter at Ghatagaon Temple complex to avoid getting cursed by Maa.
